Snow Ice Cream

Finally being in an area that gets snow, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make some snow ice cream. The youngest Nomad son, and Daddy Nomad volunteered to be the ones to go find clean snow for us to use to make our treat.

snow ice creamGrowing up in Missouri, snow is nothing new to me. It may feel brand new to me each year, but I did grow up enjoying it every winter. However, I had never had the pleasure of making or eating snow ice cream. I know this is something that people have been making for years, and years. By the time I started seeing it floating around on the internet, we were already living in Naples, FL. As you can guess, we didn’t get the opportunity to make it while living there.

Once I saw all the fresh snow we had available, I knew we had finally gotten our chance, and I was psyched. I felt like I was the kid in the house, waiting for the others to “get in the mood” for such a cold snack on a cold day. Once I got the green light from the Nomad fellas, it was a go, and within minutes, our wintery dessert was ready. This was our first time having snow ice cream, but I know it will not be our last. Such a yummmmmilicious surprise.

  1. Do you just mix it in a bowl and eat? I’m from the east coast of Canada. Plenty of snow here – we have 4′ of it covering my garden. But I’ve never made snow ice cream.

    • Marie – Mama Nomad mixed the milk and sugar in one bowl, collected the snow in a separate bowl, came in and added the snow to the milk and sugar mixture. We all really enjoyed it. Let us know if you try it and how you like it.
