While we were exploring San Francisco, we needed a home base. Even though it was only going to be one week (our shortest stay anywhere), we still wanted to get a house, like we commonly do. And, through our searching, we found the perfect one for us in Cobb, California. This is a small mountain town with about 1800 people, one gas station, one restaurant and one grocery store. But it worked for us. That is where we found our California Mountain House.
This lodge is located in the mountains of Northern California about 90 miles from San Francisco, just north of Napa Valley. The home is literally located on a mountainside with the back door opening onto the mountain and the front patio granting you an overlook of the far mountain range.
This 1500 square foot home had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It had a huge upstairs patio that was large enough to accommodate multiple seating arrangements while still being able to use their gas grill. The living room had a 40″ TV that had Roku built-in so you can watch Netflix and Hulu from it. Which was great for us.
Mama Nomad and I took peaceful walks around the mountainous neighborhood and I even took a hike up the mountain behind the house. Although we were secluded up in the mountains with a small town, we never felt wanting for amenities. Cobb had all the basics for us.
