Week One…Success

We have officially been “Living Nomad Style” for a week. We set out on Friday, August 29th, 2014. After two days of driving in rain that can only be described as a downpour, packed like sardines in Ebony (our trusty SUV), we made a stop in Pelham, GA to spend a couple of days with family. The perfect recharge that these five nomads were needing.

Pelham, in my opinion, is the best little town in the south. I love it there, and I actually feel my soul get renourished when I visit. The southern food, the southern charm, the southern drawl; I love it all. Most of all, I love being with our Georgia family. We do things there that we don’t really do anywhere else; visit on the porch, go fish, shoot skeet, eat more than you would think is humanly possible, drink before dinner (it’s 5 o’clock somewhere), and just enjoy every minute of being there. I’m always happy to arrive, sad to leave, and look forward to the next return visit.

Our five hours from Pelham to Kissimmee took closer to eight, but we finally made it to our townhouse. It’s everything that I was expecting it to be; beautifully decorated, clean, stocked with everything you could possible need for a long or short stay, and it’s got a foosball table. We’ve already spent several hours having foosball matches. As Trevor said, “I bet this foosball table has never seen so much action.”

Everyone is unpacked, situated, and ready to enjoy all that the Orlando area has to offer until we leave at Thanksgiving. We’ve got several field trips planned with a local homeschool group, and are excited to spend time with some of our friends from Naples. As well as our trips to Disney, Universal, museums, parks, the beach, and any hidden gems that we can find that might be off the beaten path. I’m going to call week one of “Living Nomad Style” a success.
