Sol Y Luna

After we explored the DuPont State Forest with its miles of hills, valleys, falls and mountains, it is safe to say that the Nomads were hungry. We had no meat defrosted back at home base and we did not want to wait long to eat. We collectively brainstormed on what type of food we could order and eat quickly that was not fast food.

We settled on Mexican Food. We figured, they always serve chips and salsa while your main course is being prepared. In addition, the main courses do not commonly take very long to prepare on average. We fired up Yelp and did a quick search. We found a little out-of-the-way restaurant with good reviews called Sol Y Luna Cali-Mex Bar & Grill. So, we plotted the course and we were on our way.

When we arrived, the restaurant was located in a little strip mall type setting. The outside was clean and presentable enough. However, when we walked in, the exterior did not do justice to the interior. We were met with a waterfall type glass and a nicely accented and decorated restaurant. We were seated quickly and ready to get started in no time.

Quality of Food – 5
The chips were hot and fresh and the salsa was delicious. The quantity of options included what you would expect in an authentic type Mexican restaurant. And they also had their own house specials. We ended up getting combinations of enchiladas, burritos and chimichangas. You would not expect to find one of the best Mexican restaurants in Hendersonville, North Carolina. However, this food was fantastic and some of the best we have tasted while on our travels.

Service – 5
The service was top-notch. Our server was not very talkative. However, our drinks were constantly filled without asking, plates cleared as they became empty and we were constantly attended to. Our food was served quickly and done so by a whole team of which all members were cordial. Easy to grant top marks.

Price – 4
The food was reasonably priced. Actually, the food quantity to price ratio was better than average. We have achieved a better pricing value that allows us to set a high bar. But, in order to feed a family of 5, everyone being full and have some leftovers to take home for $50 is still a good value.

Overall Value – 5
The overall value, an average of the three scores, for Sol Y Luna is a 5. The outside is not very flashy or descript. But, the inside atmosphere is very pleasant and enjoyable. The food taste was fantastic and the quantity was more than ample. Their service was top-notch and the price was much better than average.

If you are in the Hendersonville, North Carolina area and you are craving some Mexican food, give Sol Y Luna a try. You won’t regret it. Safe Travels.
