Mijuri Sushi & Grill

MijuriEvery time Mama Nomad and I visit the Springfield, Missouri area, we stop at Mijuri Sushi & Grill  at 2710 S Campbell Ave.

We have been frequenting this place almost since it opened back in 2006. We have enjoyed many a lunch and dinner by ourselves, with friends and even utilized it for business meetings.

The atmosphere is very quiet, clean and is as you would expect to see in a Sushi and Grill place in the US: sushi bar, bamboo accents and white and black colors contrasting.

It is hard to believe this, but we have eaten sushi all over the United States and this was the place that set the bar for us. We would have never thought Springfield, Missouri would produce our favorite sushi place. Their sushi is delicious, unique and appropriately priced.

The wait staff has always been very warm and inviting. You are vocally greeted by the sushi chefs when you enter the place. You do not commonly have to wait for very long to be seated. The food seems to be prepared quickly and the servers bring it out promptly. As many of you may know by now, a pet peeve of mine is empty water glasses. Mijuri kept my glass full the entire time.

Stuffed MushroomsOn our latest visit, we had one of Mama Nomad’s favorites: stuffed mushrooms. We also ordered our default Special Style California Roll. They take a regular California Roll, breaded it and deep fry it. It is delicious. We mix up our other sushi choices from visit to visit.

Lastly, Groupon always seems to be offering a special for Mijuri. It is a $20 credit for $12. It is worth purchasing before hand.

Any other time, I would give Mijuri a 5 out of 5 stars. They were always top of their game in every department. I am reducing it to a 4 out of 5 for this visit. The stuffed mushroom size and sushi sizes seemed to have been smaller this time. But, that is the only deduction. When our travels take us through here again in the future, we’ll stop in and see if they have changed their food sizes back to the way they were before.

Regardless, I still have no problem recommending a visit to this place. If you are in the Springfield, Missouri area and want sushi, stop by Mijuri.
