Let It Snow

We came to winter in Connecticut, in part, to see snow. We have been here since September and it snowed a little bit one day. Heck, on Christmas it was warm enough to almost wear shorts.

Snow In Connecticut 012316Well, a snow storm has been brewing and coming across the mid and eastern part of the United States. As of this morning, it reached our coastal area of Connecticut. It started off light and we did not expect much. The weatherman said we would get a bunch of snow. But, the weatherman also told us it would be sunny and calm one day last week, but it rained and was windy. So, we took the report with a grain of salt.

As the day wore on, the snow kept coming and coming and coming. The wind kicked up a notch and so did the amount of snow. It seems like Connecticut is trying to make up for all of December and January in one day because boy oh boy is it a winter wonderland outside. Let it snow!

We were not content with watching it from behind glass. We are a block from the beach. We have been to the beach before. We have been out in snow before. But we have never been to the beach while it was snowing. So, Mama Nomad, Trevor and I got our gear on and headed outside.

We headed down to the beach. One thing we really, really did not expect to see were seagulls! Really?!?! There were seagulls in the water floating as well as some on the piers. I thought they flew south for the winter. I guess these guys like the cold.

While out and about we encountered a man and his dog playing in the snow on the beach. The dog was chasing the seagulls making them fly around overhead. That is something we never do. They can get angry, fly over and bomb you with poop! We also saw a dad pulling his son down the beach, across the snow on an inner tube. The kid was traveling in style.

After a bit of taking it all in, we decided to not press out luck and head back to the house. As soon as we got back to the house and took off our gear, the snow doubled its intensity and it is now hard for me to see clearly for very far out of my window. What an experience that was! Thorough enjoyment and glad we were able to experience it. Safe Travels.
