Finally, A “Triple D” Experience

I’m sharing a secret, y’all. That is, that I LOOOOOOVE “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” with an unhealthy passion. I’m obsessed with the show, and have been since the first episode that I saw. I adore Guy Fieri. I’ve often thought how cool it would be to live in an Airstream, and travel around the US to eat at all the spots where Triple D has been. I didn’t get the Airstream, but we’re traveling. I’ll take it.Guy Fieri

In the past, every trip and vacation we would take, I would be searching out for any Triple D places in the area that we could eat. For as long as the show has been on, and as many places that they’ve visited, I can’t believe that it has taken me this long to have a Triple D experience. I am hoping that our new “Living Nomad Style” lifestyle will afford me many, many, many more Triple D opportunities.

So, where did I go to make this dream come true? Was it a diner? A drive-in? A dive? Well, it was a little bit of all three. No matter, the food was great. Drum roll please…………Danny’s All American Diner and Dairy Bar in Tampa, FL (www.dannysallamericandiner.com). Annnnnd, what did we eat? Some Triple D favorites, of course; Guy Fieri’s Triple D Triple Play, Cuban Sandwich Danny Style, and a french fry/onion ring assortment. Danny's Diner2Triple D Triple Play: A Danny Burger topped with Mojo pork, Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, American Cheese, tomatoes, Jalapeno peppers, french fried onion rings and mustard on grilled sourdough bread.

Cuban Sandwich Danny Style: Our slow roasted pulled pork, Genoa salami, Virginia baked ham, capicolla, Swiss cheese, dill pickles, mustard and mayo on Cuban bread pressed (lettuce & tomato on request)

I had the Triple Play. Now, you might be asking, “Was it money??” Well, yes; yes it was money. It was a huge sandwich, and I put it all away. I’m not proud of that, but it’s true. I’m also not proud that I got a touch of the meat sweats later that evening. What can I say? I’m all about honesty here. While the sandwich was good, my favorite part were the onion rings. They were actually the best I’ve ever had.

How would I rate my first Triple D experience…..I’m going to give it 4/5. My food was Guy-rrific! I really enjoyed my sandwich, and I’ve gotta say again, that I loved those onion rings. The service was outstanding; from the girl that took our order, to the gentleman (that I can only assume is Danny) checking on how we liked everything, to the other staff who checked on us while we ate, just to make sure we were doing okay. They were all kind and very attentive. If you find yourself exploring Tampa, and wanting to eat the best onion rings EVER, go by Danny’s All American Diner. 1. Me and Ethan ate the Cuban Sandwich Danny Style. We really liked the taste. They blended the flavors together well. Our only drawback was that the bread was toasted to the point of being almost too hard.

I will concur with Mama Nomad, the service was fantastic and the onion rings were some of the best I have ever eaten!
